Social Project: "The Equal Helps the Equal"
The social project "The Equal Helps the Equal" is being implemented at the day care center for people with disabilities.
This project is aimed at addressing the issue of attracting attention to the life activity of people with disabilities themselves, and forming a new concept of independent living for people with disabilities in society.
Goal of the project: to create conditions for collective socio-domestic activities for lonely citizens with disabilities living independently, to integrate them into social and labor activities, and to eliminate social alienation through the organization of events with the participation of volunteers with disabilities.
Tasks:
- involving young volunteer disabled people in active activities aimed at providing domestic assistance and psychological support to the target group;
- increasing the level of social adaptation, expanding the scope of communication for citizens with disabilities;
- carrying out measures to provide practical assistance to citizens with disabilities who need social support.
The project is implemented through the work of the mutual assistance team "Toloka". Project members, citizens with disabilities who regularly attend the center, provide feasible assistance in improving yard areas, planting and harvesting vegetables, and equipping and improving places of residence for people with disabilities (cosmetic repairs, general cleaning, etc.).
The project is implemented throughout the year. Mutual assistance is provided by prior agreement between the team members, with the approval of the occupational therapy instructor, but no less than once a month.
