Social Project: "The Equal Helps the Equal"

The social project "The Equal Helps the Equal" is being implemented at the day care center for people with disabilities.

This project is aimed at addressing the issue of attracting attention to the life activity of people with disabilities themselves, and forming a new concept of independent living for people with disabilities in society.

Goal of the project: to create conditions for collective socio-domestic activities for lonely citizens with disabilities living independently, to integrate them into social and labor activities, and to eliminate social alienation through the organization of events with the participation of volunteers with disabilities.

Tasks:

  • involving young volunteer disabled people in active activities aimed at providing domestic assistance and psychological support to the target group;
  • increasing the level of social adaptation, expanding the scope of communication for citizens with disabilities;
  • carrying out measures to provide practical assistance to citizens with disabilities who need social support.

The project is implemented through the work of the mutual assistance team "Toloka". Project members, citizens with disabilities who regularly attend the center, provide feasible assistance in improving yard areas, planting and harvesting vegetables, and equipping and improving places of residence for people with disabilities (cosmetic repairs, general cleaning, etc.).

The project is implemented throughout the year. Mutual assistance is provided by prior agreement between the team members, with the approval of the occupational therapy instructor, but no less than once a month.

Social project: Express holiday "Anniversary to the Old-Timer"

The project is implemented by the home social assistance department.

Goal of this project: socio-psychological support for elderly citizens at a significant stage of life.

As part of the social project implementation, specialists from the home social assistance department congratulate lonely elderly citizens on their anniversaries (80, 90, 95, 100 years).

Souvenirs for presentation to elderly citizens are made in the workshops of the day care department for disabled people.

Social project: "Keeping Up with the Times"

Goal of the project:

Adaptation to the modern internet environment for people of retirement age living in the Miory district through the organization of the "Silver Age" social cafe.

Tasks

  • Organize the "Silver Age" social cafe
  • Develop a computer literacy training program at the "Silver Age" cafe
  • Create conditions for computer literacy training for persons of retirement age
  • Conduct training in computer literacy and cybersecurity.
  • Intensify leisure activities for categorized citizens, their social adaptation and rehabilitation.
  • In 2021, the social cafe "Silver Age" was created and actively operated at the Miory Territorial Center for Social Services, which provided an opportunity for elderly people to master the skills necessary in the modern world for paying utility bills via the Internet or a mobile application, booking a doctor's appointment, ordering delivery of goods and food, communicating with relatives living outside the Republic of Belarus, booking a ticket for transport, expanding social connections by communicating on social networks, and receiving online consultations on various issues. This project contributed to the intensification of leisure activities for categorized citizens, their social adaptation and rehabilitation, as well as reducing the threshold of isolation. It became possible for personal self-education through mastering new areas of activity and forming new socially significant roles, psycho-emotional health was strengthened, intellectual activity increased, and the personal potential of each participant was revealed. The implementation of the project allowed elderly people to solve many issues without leaving home, avoiding additional contact with potentially infected citizens. The implementation of this project continues. Since October 2021, a new group of elderly citizens has been formed, ready to undergo a new course of training sessions.

    Social Project: "Safety First"

    Objective of the project: to improve the safety of living conditions for lonely elderly citizens and lonely disabled individuals of groups 1 and 2, and lonely citizens living alone.

    The following activities are carried out within the framework of the project:

    • organization and conduct of individual instructional and explanatory work;
    • training of employees providing social services in the basics of life safety, measures to prevent fires and other emergencies, and actions in case they occur;
    • attracting the attention of the public, relatives, and organizations where elderly citizens previously worked to the problems of their safe living

    Within the framework of the "Safety First" project, in October 2021, 50 autonomous fire detectors, purchased with funds from the Miory district organization of the Belarusian Public Association "Belaya Rus", were installed in the households of lonely elderly citizens and lonely disabled individuals of groups 1 and 2.
