A rally dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers and the 34th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was held in the city of Miory

On February 15, Afghan war veterans, representatives of labor collectives and law enforcement agencies, and students from district schools gathered at the Square of Memory of Fallen Fighters for a solemn event.

Valery Drabo, Chairman of the Miory District Council of Deputies, presented Certificates of Honor to Afghan war veterans Sergey Matveev and Ivan Yukhno.

A minute of silence was observed in memory of 5 young men – Sergey Zakrevsky, Petr Brinkevich, Vladimir Metelitsa, Sergey Stankevich, Sergey Shlyapov, natives of the Miory district, who died while performing their international duty.

Wreaths and flowers were laid at the "Black Tulip" memorial obelisk.

The district leadership and Afghan war veterans met with the families of the fallen internationalist soldiers, and together with students from city schools, as well as Turkivshchyna Basic School and Yazna Secondary School, visited the burial sites of the young men who died in the Afghan War.
