resolving emerging problems of war and labor veterans living in the district;

Events

On January 20, 2023, an open dialogue "Vitebsk Region – Turning the Pages of Time", dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the formation of the Vitebsk region, was held in the Miory district.

Veterans of labor and youth gathered in the district central library to recall the main milestones of the development of the Pridvinye region, and to discuss issues of the development of the region and the Miory district.

The vibrant and heartfelt activists of the veteran movement of Miory region celebrated the 35th anniversary of their organization. Many warm and important words were expressed to the honorees by the guests of the event, including the head of the district Igor Kuznetsov and the chairman of the district council of deputies Maria Bonifateva. Colleagues from other public organizations congratulated them – "Belaya Rus", the district trade union association, the Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan, the Peace Fund, as well as the department for labor, employment and social protection, the sector of sports and tourism, and the editorial office. The chairman of the district veteran organization, Chislav Kashkur, hospitably welcomed and presented return gifts.

At the VIII reporting and election conference of the district veteran organization, it was proposed to restore the stele in the park near the RDC, which was erected in honor of the 20th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the liberation of Belarus. This takes on a special significance in the 60th anniversary year of the Peace Fund.

It became an event and stirred up the measured life of all those who are already on well-deserved rest. Tired of the lack of communication, they happily gathered together, while observing anti-epidemic measures. Pleasant music sounded in the hall, and they talked about pressing issues.

The district Spartakiad "Youth Enthusiasm and Komsomol Wisdom", dedicated to Mother's Day and the 100th anniversary of the Komsomol of Belarus, was held. Representatives of different generations, uniting their forces in three teams, underwent a test of relays.

Veterans of Miorshchyna are not hindered by age from playing sports

The third district sports event for veterans was held at the "Atlant" sports complex. Eight teams from primary organizations participated, some of them united. This makes a total of 45 people. There is reason to talk about the mass participation, about the fact that people of age have not lost interest in sports duels, are supporters of a healthy lifestyle, and strive to spend their well-deserved rest time together and with benefit.

A primary veteran organization has recently been established at the Department of Agriculture and Food of the District Executive Committee, which includes former employees of other district organizations and institutions of the agrarian sector.

The first sports event for veterans of labor in Miory region

The first sports event for labor veterans among the primary organizations of the Miory region turned out to be crowded. On September 26, at a general assembly in the sports hall of the FSC "Miory", ten teams intended to test their strength in seven sports. These include athletics (50 and 30-meter races for men and women, respectively), checkers, darts, bicycle handling, table tennis, throwing a ball into a basketball hoop, and pneumatic rifle shooting. The competitions were held on the running track and the stadium grounds, directly in the FSC sports hall, as well as in the sports hall and shooting range of Secondary School No. 2.

Miory residents returned from Verkhnedvinsk with a cup

An inter-district sports event was held in Verkhnedvinsk between the veteran organizations of the neighboring districts – Verkhnedvinsk, Miory, and Rossony.

Not all front-line soldiers and partisans, home front workers and prisoners of fascist concentration camps, and family members of the fallen were able to take part in the May 9th celebrations – their advanced age and health prevented them.

The Miory Veterans Organization Celebrated its 30th Anniversary

Age does not narrow the scope of human interests; this statement was vividly illustrated by the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the district veterans' organization. On March 21st, people who, it seems, only recently managed work collectives, were engaged in production, raised children, organized cultural work, or did much more, gathered at the district cultural center for a festive meeting from all over the district. It was very pleasant for them to see each other again.

Preparations for the 30th anniversary of the district veteran organization include a series of events, one of which was a meeting with the residents of the round-the-clock care unit for the elderly and disabled in Disna. It took place on the last day of winter, February 28, but it was warm like spring.

The veteran movement in the Vitebsk region is 30!

This year, the veteran movement in the Vitebsk region, in its modern organizational form, celebrates its 30th anniversary. It is no coincidence that on the eve of such a date, on January 27 of the current year 2017, a discussion about the development of the veteran movement in our Miory region took place "at a round table" in the district library. People gathered there, each of whom, in his time, made a personal contribution to the development of our Miory region, and is also involved in public affairs now.

Meeting of Miory residents on the occasion of the Day of the Elderly

It so happened that the celebration of the Day of the Elderly in the district center was held later than the calendar date, on October 3, due to other planned events. The head of the veteran organization, Chislav Kashkur, and his assistant, Zoya Rodina, prepared an interesting program for the activists. Initially, an excursion along the ecological trail to the Yelnya swamp took place.

The Miory club "Bazhena" invited veteran teachers as guests

On the eve of Teacher's Day, the "Bazhena" club invited veteran teachers as guests. The event, organized jointly with the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism, took place at the territorial center. Participants of the meeting were treated to a labor training lesson, musical interludes, and dance breaks. Instead of a bell – a salute.

Meetings with veterans of Miory region

On the eve of Victory Day, a delegation from the district organized visits to former participants of the Great Patriotic War - front-line soldiers and partisans, prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, home front workers, and families of fallen Fatherland defenders. Each time, words of gratitude for the Victory, congratulations, gifts, souvenirs, and the affixing of plaques as part of the "A Veteran Lives Here" campaign. And memories, if not from the veterans themselves, then from their relatives. Active participants of wartime events, mostly in their 90s, their health is failing, much is forgotten, only the brightest remains...
