Miory District is located in the northwest of Belarus and borders the districts of Braslav, Sharkovshchyna, Glubokoye, Polotsk, Verkhnedvinsk; and Latvia.
The area of the district is 1.78 thousand km2.
The district has favorable conditions for tourism development: rich history of the region, unique culture, sufficient natural potential, developed infrastructure.
The Miory District includes 9 rural Soviets and the Disna City Soviet of Deputies.
As of 01.01.2026, 15 district and city public associations, and 3 organizational structures of political parties (Miory District Branch of the Vitebsk Region Belarusian Party "Belaya Rus", Miory District Organization of the Communist Party of Belarus, Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus) are operating. The national public association "Miory District Department of the Public Association "Union of Poles in Belarus" is registered and operates, carrying out cultural and educational activities.
A coordination council of public associations and political parties operates in the district, headed by V.A. Drabo. Members of this council are the most active participants in events held in the district.
As of 01.01.2026, 27 religious organizations are registered and operating in the district: 16 Orthodox, 5 Catholic, 2 Old Believer, 2 Evangelical Christians, 2 Evangelical Christian Baptists.
The district has created the necessary conditions for meeting the religious needs of believers and the functioning of religious organizations. Believers of religious denominations registered in the district treat each other with respect.
During information days held in work collectives and meetings with the population at their place of residence, attention is paid to the state of the ethno-confessional situation in the district, the prevention of pseudo-religious cults, the cultivation of spirituality and patriotism among citizens, and the preservation and strengthening of family traditions.
A situation of mutual respect and dialogue has been achieved in the district in relations between believers of various denominations, state governing bodies, and religious organizations. If necessary, all issues arising from clergy and believers are resolved in a working manner with the assistance of heads of district services.
The ideological asset of the district is represented not only by deputy heads for ideological work but also by deputies of local Councils of Deputies, elders, and representatives of public associations.
In the district, ideological work at the place of residence is carried out in cooperation with rural executive committees, rural council deputies, heads of organizations, cultural and educational institutions, representatives of law enforcement agencies, medical workers, and clergy. It is aimed at ensuring close ties with the population to promptly provide information on the situation in the district and rural settlements, offer timely practical assistance to residents on issues of improvement, tidying up the land, resolving issues of citizens' livelihoods, and forming healthy moral relations between people.
Jointly with law enforcement agencies, explanatory work is carried out during information days and mobile reception days for citizens, and on Council Days in remote and sparsely populated areas to prevent offenses.
Work collectives and public formations actively participate in strengthening labor and public discipline and fostering a healthy lifestyle among citizens. Meetings of councils of public order points and commissions on juvenile affairs are held.
To inform residents about the socio-economic development of the district, region, and republic, the opportunities of the district newspaper "Miorskiye Naviny" and regional radio are actively used.
The following events contributed to the creation of a healthy moral and psychological atmosphere in work collectives, the strengthening and development of employees' creative abilities, and the formation of a healthy lifestyle:
- summarizing the results of work for the quarter, year with the awarding of cash bonuses to production leaders,
- organizing competitions for the title "Best in Profession",
- induction into the Honor Board,
- awarding the honorary title "Man of the Year of Miorshchyna",
- awarding the honorary title "Woman of the Year of Miorshchyna"
- celebrating anniversary dates of enterprises,
- honoring production leaders during the sowing, fodder harvesting, and harvesting campaigns, during village festivals, meetings dedicated to professional holidays,
- work with young specialists (meetings with the leadership of the district executive committee, mentoring, solving housing issues, involving them in district amateur art reviews, sports events, the "Master of the Village" young family competition, organizing leisure activities for youth, participation in the Spartakiad among agro-industrial complex enterprises, etc.),
- work with dysfunctional families (the "Family Without Violence" campaign, individual work, work of primary organizations of the NGO "Belarusian Women's Union", involvement of clergy),
- providing assistance to labor veterans, low-income, lonely citizens, former underage prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, families of the deceased,
- work in the work collective on the prevention of drunkenness and alcoholism (individual conversations, deprivation of bonuses, allowances with the placement of information about punishment on the enterprise's information stand),
- organization of joint family recreation, (work of the young family club)
- attracting to sports,
- participation in district tourist rallies,
- work on improving the professional skills of the organization's employees,
- participation in inspections for landscaping and maintaining order on the enterprise's territory, etc.
All organizations in the district are working. Emerging issues and problems are resolved in accordance with the legislation
