From the History of the Town of Miory

Miory was first mentioned in 1514 as the estate of Mereya in the Braslav district of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In the documents of the Principality of 1567, it is listed as the estate of Mery (a name that existed until the 19th century), which belonged to Mirsky. In 1621, the owner of the estate, N. Mirskaya, founded a church here. From 1644, there was an Orthodox monastery in Miory, which in 1690 M. Mirsky transferred to the Uniates and donated part of the money to them as a dowry. In 1691, a church was built (it existed until 1862).

After the 2nd partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1793), Miory became part of the Russian Empire.

A town, the center of the volost of the Disna district of the Minsk, and from 1842 - the Vilna provinces.

A school has been operating since 1866.

In 1886, Miory had 110 inhabitants, a volost administration, 3 taverns, and 2 fairs were held annually.

1897 - All-Russian population census (145 people live in Miory);

1905-1907 - construction of a church in Miory;

1922 - part of Poland, a town, the center of the gmina of the Disna district of the Vilna voivodeship;

1927 - Miory had 422 inhabitants, 2 mills, a pharmacy, 5 shops;

1930 - the construction of the Voropayevo-Druya railway, which passes through the town of Miory, was completed;

1939 - part of the BSSR;

July 5, 1941 - the district (including the town of Miory) was occupied by German-fascist invaders;

July 4, 1944 - the town of Miory was liberated from German-fascist invaders;

1947 - the first kindergarten was opened;

1956 - the Miory flax processing plant began operation;

1957 - Miory received the status of an urban settlement;

1960 - the district polyclinic was opened;

1962 - the building of the Miory District House of Culture was put into operation;

1965 - the meat processing plant began operation;

1967 - a music school operates in Miory;

1968 - construction of a new building for kindergarten No. 1 in Miory;

1969 - a sports complex was built;

1971 - the mixed feed plant and the bakery began operation;

January 15, 1972 - Miory was granted city status;

1978: House of Services commissioned in Miory;

1991: Bus station opened in Miory;

1986: Kindergarten No. 3 opened;

1994: District museum opened;

2002: Territorial center for social services of the population of Miory district started operating;

2003: A 500 m long embankment was opened, which became the visiting card of the city of Miory;

Since November 2007, natural gas has been supplied to the residents of the district center;

2007: The MRTEO of the State Automobile Inspectorate was opened, serving Miory, Braslav and Sharkovshchina districts;

2009: A new gas station was commissioned.

On January 16, 2009, the Museum of Books and Printing was opened at the State Educational Institution "Miory Secondary School No. 3";

On February 28, 2010, a sports and recreation complex was opened in Miory;

May 2010: A mini-football field with artificial turf was commissioned;

2014: A mini-football field with artificial turf and a comprehensive sports playground with artificial turf were built in Miory;

On May 22, 2015, the ethnographic museum "Selyanskaya Khata" (Peasant Hut) was opened.

In 2015, a new refrigerator was commissioned at OJSC "Miory Meat Processing Plant", with a capacity to store 500 tons of products simultaneously.

In May 2016, the State Educational Institution "Miory Secondary School No. 3" was named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Egor Andreevich Tomko.

On September 17, 2017, the sculpture "Cranes' Fidelity" was unveiled in Miory.

On October 4, 2017, the sculpture "Mother of God" was installed on the embankment of Miory.

On May 31, 2018, the grand opening of the new Miory District Hospital took place (commissioned on May 8).

On May 9, 2019, the sculpture "Children of the World – Children of War" was unveiled.

The most large-scale investment project "Construction of a plant for the production of sheet metal and tinplate in Miory" has been implemented in the district. On December 28, 2020, the tinplate plant in Miory was commissioned.

May 28, 2021 – grand opening of the Miory Rescue Station.

July 22, 2022 – opening of a memorial sign in honor of the liberators of Miory from the German-fascist invaders in Miory.

August 25, 2023 – Grand opening of a kindergarten for 200 children in Miory.
