The prosecutor's office has filed lawsuits for compensation of damages from the death of cattle

During the reporting period of 2025, the Prosecutor's Office of Miory District has paid special attention to the recovery of damages related to livestock mortality. In the first quarter of 2025, 6 such lawsuits were filed with the court for a total amount of 2949 rubles.

For example, during supervisory activities, it was established that in December 2024 and January 2025, three calves died on a farm in one of the district's agricultural enterprises due to intestinal obstruction. According to the conclusion of the State Public Health Institution "Miory District Veterinary Station," the development of this disease is linked to violations in animal feeding technology and the lack of proper conditions for providing water.

In accordance with clause 15 of the Veterinary and Sanitary Rules for the Maintenance and Raising of Cattle on Livestock Complexes, approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus of February 23, 2018, No. 30 (as amended on November 17, 2022), safe veterinary and sanitary feed that meets quality standards and provides the required amount of nutrients in the diet must be used for feeding cattle on livestock complexes.

According to clause 50 of the "General Requirements in the Field of Veterinary Medicine for the Maintenance and Operation of Capital Structures (Buildings, Structures), Isolated Premises and Other Objects Belonging to Business Entities," approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 7 of November 23, 2017 (with subsequent amendments and additions), conditions for providing animals with water must be created on the premises. In accordance with clause 17 of the Veterinary and Sanitary Rules, the temperature of drinking water for cattle should be 8-12 degrees Celsius.

The livestock breeder responsible for the deceased calves, as well as their direct supervisor, the team leader in livestock farming, performed their labor duties improperly.

During pre-trial proceedings, it was established that the farm livestock breeder violated production and technological standards, the feeding and watering regime for animals. The team leader of the production team in animal husbandry failed to ensure proper care and maintenance of cattle in accordance with zootechnical requirements and technological methods, did not organize an uninterrupted supply of water to the entire livestock, did not control the storage and distribution of feed, and also failed to ensure the livestock breeder fulfilled their labor duties.

By the decision of the Miory District Court dated 02.04.2025, based on Articles 400, 402, 404 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Belarus, the livestock breeder and the team leader of the production team in animal husbandry were ordered to pay 1,408.95 rubles to the farm as compensation for damages caused by improper performance of labor duties, in equal shares.

The court's decision has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed or protested within the period established by law.
