CHILDREN'S SAFETY IN SUMMER

The summer period brings not only the joy of holidays, the opportunity to sunbathe and swim, but also high risks for children.

Preventing childhood injuries is one of the most important tasks for every adult, as adults, and primarily parents, are responsible for the life and health of children. It is parents who must create safe conditions for children during the summer period, form safe behavior skills, and the ability to foresee and prevent the consequences of dangerous situations.

Many measures to ensure children's safety may seem elementary, however, with a child of any age, it is necessary to review and discuss seemingly simple rules of behavior.

The main safety rules for summer that every child should learn:

- swim accompanied by an adult;

- always swim in designated areas, on equipped and safe beaches;

- do not swim beyond buoys, do not swim close to ships, boats, catamarans, etc.;

- do not swim in large waves, strong currents, and whirlpools;

- do not dive in places with an unknown bottom;

- do not play dangerous games in the water, do not "drown" friends, and do not dive deep;

- remember that mattresses and lifebuoys are not designed for swimming far; when using them, swim close to the shore;

- if the sun is shining, wear a head covering;

- do not stay in the sun for a long time, and if you feel your skin starting to burn and redden, immediately go into the shade;

- do not take and eat perishable foods in hot weather and places;

- drink plenty of water;

- avoid tick habitats if possible, use special protective measures against them, avoid contact with wasps, bees, bumblebees;

- do not interact with strangers (neither men nor women), do not take anything from them, do not invite them to your home, do not give them your home address;

- do not go out on the balcony without an adult, do not lean out of the window by placing a chair or other device for this purpose;

- strictly observe traffic rules.
