С 20 по 26 ноября в целях стабилизации обстановки на дорогах страны Госавтоинспекция проведет республиканское профилактическое мероприятие "Сохрани себе жизнь!"

From November 20 to 26, with the aim of stabilizing the situation on the country's roads, the State Automobile Inspectorate will hold a republican preventive event "Save Your Life!"

Accident analysis shows that with the onset of the autumn-winter period and the reduction in daylight hours, the probability of road traffic accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists, and horse-drawn vehicle drivers increases. The causes of such accidents are non-compliance with traffic rules by both drivers and pedestrians themselves, who sometimes do not think about their safety, being near the roadway while intoxicated, not marking themselves with reflective elements in the dark, and crossing the road in an unauthorized place.

The campaign is aimed at drawing the attention of pedestrians and cyclists to the importance of strictly observing the rules of safe behavior on the road, mandatory use of reflective elements and high-visibility clothing in the dark, as well as in adverse weather conditions.

During this period, enhanced traffic supervision will be organized with the involvement of all public security police officers. Special attention will be paid to identifying drivers and pedestrians who grossly violate traffic rules.

Also, on patrol routes, control will be exercised over the serviceability of outdoor lighting, the facts of its disconnection at night, as well as over the work of organizations for the winter maintenance of the street and road network.

The State Automobile Inspectorate reminds that pedestrians are allowed to walk on the shoulder facing the traffic flow and only where there is no sidewalk, pedestrian or bicycle path, and the roadway should be crossed in a designated place, after making sure that the vehicle has stopped.

In the dark, to attract the attention of drivers, it is necessary to mark yourself with reflective elements. This is especially important in adverse weather conditions when road visibility is reduced several times. And if a pedestrian has a so-called "flicker," the distance from which a driver can notice them increases from 25-40 to 140 meters. And this is the most effective way to ensure safety on the road.

The State Automobile Inspectorate addresses parents and reminds them that they are responsible for their children, and also urges them to make every effort to ensure the safety of the youngest and most vulnerable road users. Many children's clothing manufacturers care not only about the beauty and comfort of their products, but also about the safety of young pedestrians by using reflective elements. When choosing clothes, give preference to such models, or purchase other forms of reflective elements that can be placed on bags, jackets, or other items. Teach yourself and your children to use available safety measures.

For a pedestrian, a person riding a bicycle, a horse-drawn vehicle, or a person participating in traffic and not driving a vehicle, who has committed a traffic violation, an administrative penalty in the form of a warning or a fine ranging from 1 to 3 base units shall be applied, and in case of a pedestrian being in a state of alcoholic intoxication or refusal to undergo verification (examination) in the established manner - in the amount of 3 to 5 base units.

Dear road users! If you see pedestrians sitting, lying, or moving in a state of intoxication on or near the roadway, immediately report it by calling 102. Perhaps your call will help save someone's life.
