— The railway is a zone of increased danger. You should not stand close to the edge of the platform when a train is approaching, approach the cars before the train has completely stopped, crawl under rolling stock, approach broken wires, or jump from a passenger platform onto the tracks. You should cross the tracks only in designated areas.

According to Art. 18.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of rules ensuring the safety of movement on railway or urban electric transport), the following administrative penalties are provided:

1. Placing objects on railway or tram tracks that may cause disruption to the movement of railway or urban electric transport,

shall incur a fine of from two to ten basic units.

1. Damage to railway or tram tracks, protective forest plantations, snow-protection fences, or other track objects, structures, and signaling and communication devices shall incur a fine of from twenty to fifty basic units.
2. Violation of the rules for crossing railway tracks with draft animals and driving livestock across railway tracks, or grazing livestock near railway tracks shall incur a fine of from one to ten basic units.
3. Walking on railway tracks or being on railway tracks in places not intended for crossing them shall incur a fine of up to two basic units.

The predominant causes of injuries on railway tracks are non-compliance with elementary personal safety measures: talking on a mobile phone and using headphones while on the tracks, ignoring audible and visual signals, and attempts to take selfies with railway rolling stock.

It is not easy to stop a moving train. Its braking distance, depending on many factors, can reach 1000 meters. It should be taken into account that a train traveling at a speed of 100-120 km/h covers 30 meters per second, while a pedestrian needs at least 5-6 seconds to cross a railway track.
