Save a child's life!
The State Automobile Inspectorate of the Miory District Department of Internal Affairs will conduct a set of preventive measures from January 19, 2024, to January 25, 2024, to prevent road traffic accidents involving minors, promote the use of child restraint devices and retroreflective elements in the dark, under the motto "Save a child's life!".
Traffic police officers will conduct explanatory work in both labor collectives of organizations and enterprises, as well as in educational institutions. Special attention will be paid to preventive work with drivers of individual transport on compliance with the Traffic Regulations regarding the safe transportation of children.
The traffic rules are the same for children and adults. Unfortunately, they are written in adult language, without any consideration for children. Therefore, the main task of educators and parents is to explain the rules to the child in an accessible way, and when choosing a form of education, to convey to children the meaning and danger of non-compliance with the rules, without distorting their content.
Only through the joint efforts of educators, teachers, and parents, using their knowledge, patience, and tact, is it possible to teach children the skills of safe interaction with the complex world of crossing streets and roads.
Children are always near us, they look at us, they imitate us. Driving recklessly at high speed, crossing the roadway on a red traffic light or in an unauthorized place, do not forget that your children are next to you, they are also road users, repeating and completely copying the dismissive and often dangerous attitude of adults towards compliance with traffic rules. It is adults who instill negative habits of violating the rules of safe behavior on the road – the basis for a possible future tragedy. All adults must firmly grasp the power of their own example!
Dear parents! Remind young road users that they should not suddenly step or run out onto the road from behind parked cars, trees, bushes, or structures, even if the road is adjacent to residential areas. Before a child steps onto the roadway, they must stop and look around, making sure there are no vehicles moving towards them nearby.
Drivers should know: 70% of traffic accidents involving children are due to adult fault. Therefore, when you see children near the roadway, reduce your speed and be prepared to stop at any moment. Drive at a minimum speed in courtyards.
The traffic police urge drivers to be extremely attentive when driving near children's institutions, passing unregulated pedestrian crossings, public transport stops, and in courtyards.
Drivers should also remember to strictly adhere to the rules for the safe transportation of minors. A child in a car must be in a special restraint system corresponding to their weight and height. The car seat or booster must be installed correctly in the car. Children over 12 years of age must be fastened with standard seat belts.
Pedestrians are urged to exercise caution and attentiveness in traffic. When moving in the dark, use reflective patches or inserts on outerwear! A special appeal to parents! Take care of your children's safety! It is mandatory to attach a reflective badge to a backpack or jacket! And don't forget to remind young road users about the basic rules of safe behavior on the road!
To prevent a child from getting into trouble, instill respect for traffic rules patiently, daily, and unobtrusively.
