«Safe Zone»

On June 23, 2023, within the territory of Miory District, employees of the traffic police department of the Miory District Department of Internal Affairs will conduct preventive measures under the conditional name "Safe Region," aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists, and persons using personal mobility devices, promoting the use of retroreflective elements and high-visibility vests in the dark, reducing the severity of consequences resulting from road traffic accidents caused by drivers of motor transport, persons without a driving license, those in a state of intoxication, as well as violations of speed limits and driving into the oncoming lane.

For the elapsed period of the current year, within the territory of Vitebsk Region, a decrease in the number of road traffic accidents has been registered compared to the same period in 2022. However, despite the positive dynamics, more than 100 road traffic accidents have occurred, resulting in 17 fatalities and 129 individuals sustaining bodily injuries of varying severity. Additionally, 6 road traffic accidents were caused by drivers in a state of alcohol intoxication.

In order to minimize negative trends in road traffic safety, during these measures, control will be intensified near entertainment venues and places of mass gatherings of citizens.

Dear citizens! If you witness a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, or if there is a person on the roadway in a state of intoxication whose actions pose a real threat to road traffic safety, please report the incident to the duty unit of the Department of Internal Affairs by calling 102.
