On a bicycle, motorcycle, and moped, we'll ride into summer without tragedies!
Under this motto, a Unified Road Safety Day will be held across our country on April 28. All events conducted by public security police officers within the framework of this unified day will be aimed at preventing and averting traffic accidents involving two-wheeled vehicles.
Today, we would like to address drivers operating so-called "small transport" – motorcycles and mopeds. This is due to the fact that in recent days, traffic accident reports have been literally teeming with cases of accidents involving motorcyclists.
A motorcycle, in skilled hands and with a serious attitude towards it, is quite reliable. However, the vulnerable points of this type of transport are its instability and a longer braking distance than that of a car. Therefore, it must be used with caution and prudence. But what is actually happening?
Although the Traffic Rules strictly regulate speed, both within and outside populated areas, one can often see such "thrill-seekers" who race along the roads, forgetting all caution, overtaking vehicles from both the right and the left, changing direction without signaling, and riding motorcycles while intoxicated or without protective helmets. As a result, they themselves and their passengers die or get injured.
Unfortunately, the arguments of traffic police officers do not always reach the consciousness of these reckless drivers. Most often, many begin to understand the meaning of the warning only when the irreparable has already happened. The situation with motorcycle accidents is particularly serious in rural areas, where it is very difficult to monitor motorcyclists.
We would like to address another aspect of the problem of accidents among motorcyclists. Today, it is no longer surprising that parents buy mopeds and even motorcycles for their sons who have not reached the age of sixteen, entrusting them with their two-wheeled vehicles. At the same time, not everyone asks the questions: where will their son learn to ride a moped or motorcycle, is he disciplined and self-critical enough? Often, for some reason, people forget to register motorcycles with the traffic police and submit them for technical inspection. This is especially true in rural areas.
The State Automobile Inspectorate, naturally, takes measures to stop teenagers from riding mopeds and motorcycles. The police find out whose motorcycle it is, why it is not registered, and draw up administrative protocols. But let's be frank, even these measures do not always solve the problem. And how often is there no police officer in the path of the young driver.
It is possible to prevent similar emergencies in the future. But to cope with this problem, no one should remain indifferent: neither the public, nor the school, and most importantly, the family.It should always be remembered that a motorcyclist is less protected than a car driver, who can be shielded from injuries by the car body. When operating a motorcycle, the driver and their passengers are required by traffic regulations to wear fastened motorcycle helmets.
Therefore, do not forget to fasten your motorcycle helmet, a device that can save your life and reduce the severity of injuries in accidents.
Always yield to pedestrians in places where they have priority, and gesture for them to cross if they hesitate.
Ride your motorcycle in such a way that you have time to assess the road situation and take the necessary actions to ensure traffic safety.
Remember that the driver's worst enemy is alcohol.
