On safety in the housing stock
Due to the worsening operational situation, associated with an increase in the number of fires and fatalities in the Miory district, employees of the district department for emergency situations, both individually and in conjunction with prevention entities, conducted preventive measures in residential areas during the weekend.
The presence of autonomous fire alarms, the operability of heating appliances, knowledge of emergency service numbers, and the ability to react correctly to emergency situations – all this and more was explained by rescuers during home visits to citizens.
– We have to explain to many citizens why it is necessary to install autonomous fire alarms in each living room, – explains Vladimir Rachitsky, head of the Miory District Department for Emergency Situations. – Even if a person lives alone, it is necessary to equip each living room with alarms, as a fire can break out in any of the rooms. In such a case, a fire alarm will help detect a fire at an early stage and prevent disaster.
The population was also told about the importance of the correct operation of heating stoves.
– An installed hearth mat, the absence of cracks in the masonry, a plastered and whitewashed stove chimney – these are not just words, but rules tested by time, – remind the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
