Find an opportunity to teach children safety rules

Children's pranks with fire often lead to very regrettable consequences. Due to their limited life experience and immense curiosity, little ones find themselves in dangerous situations.

And, as a rule, behind every wrong action of children lie the wrong actions of us, adults. Children, like sponges, absorb all the information from the surrounding world. If a mother throws a burning match into a trash can after lighting a gas stove, her child will do the same next time. If a father smokes in the presence of children, the latter will also find time and opportunity to try smoking.

Child trauma and deaths cannot be put into words. The grief for relatives and loved ones, parents, cannot be measured by anything. But we, adults, sometimes not understanding this or simply hoping that "it will pass," continue to leave children home alone, do not observe safety rules ourselves, and sometimes do not even think about how important it is to talk to children about safety rules.

Rescuers have long developed a lot of methodological and educational materials that can be used to teach safety rules, and do so not in the form of moralizing, but in a playful way. These include the Ministry of Emergency Situations' animated series ("The Magic Book of the Ministry of Emergency Situations," and recently the new cartoon "Special Squad 112" appeared), the mobile application "Belarusian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Help is Nearby," and visual aids (coloring books, brochures, board games, etc.), which can be found on the ministry's official website and downloaded completely free of charge. As they say, he who wants to seeks opportunities, and he who does not want to seeks excuses.

Dear parents, teach children safety rules from an early age. Explain what needs to be done in case of an emergency, where to run and where to seek safety. Remember and learn together with your children the numbers of emergency services, explain which service to call in which situation, and remind them about the inadmissibility of false calls. This knowledge may become a life-saving ring for your child, preserving their life.
