Miory rescuers are conducting a preventive campaign

As part of the special preventive event "Thin Ice" in the Miory district, rescuers, together with interested prevention entities: OSVOD workers, an employee of the internal affairs department, and a representative of the district newspaper, are conducting preventive raids on the district's water bodies, primarily aimed at preventing loss of life in water areas during the winter period.

Communicating with ice fishing enthusiasts, rescuers remind them that a ban on going out on the ice is in effect in the district if the ice thickness is less than 7 centimeters, and also explained how to determine if the ice is strong, has a safe thickness, and the necessity of wearing a life jacket when going out on the ice cover. As it turned out, everyone knew, but only a few complied. Fishermen were advised to carry sharp ice picks: they are indispensable if you fall through the ice and are trying to get out.

Everyone needs to remember and understand that the weather is unstable, there are no severe frosts anymore. The ice may not have sufficient strength and thickness for a person to be on it without risk to life. One must be extremely careful to avoid tragedy.
