Holiday season without fire risk

From November 24 to December 14, a large-scale information campaign was organized in the republic about the effectiveness of autonomous fire alarms and the need to install them in households; the campaign has been extended until December 31, 2025.

Having demonstrated their high effectiveness and relevance, events involving visits to the households of elderly citizens by prevention entities, as well as the installation of autonomous fire alarms at the expense of sponsorship (enterprises and organizations of the Miory district), will be continued until the end of the current year.

The main purpose of an autonomous fire alarm is to notify people in a building about a fire that has started; it reacts to smoke.

It does not require connection to external systems: the autonomous fire alarm is capable of independently detecting signs of a fire and immediately notifying people nearby with a loud audible signal.

In case of a fire, smoke rises to the ceiling and then spreads along it, so the most preferable location for the alarm is on the ceiling in the middle of the room. However, in the case of a stretch ceiling, it cannot simply be attached. An alternative placement is on the wall. It is permissible to mount the alarm on a vertical surface – at a height of 10–30 cm from the ceiling, – advises Oleg Bunko, Deputy Head of the Miory District Department for Emergency Situations.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations recommends installing autonomous fire alarms in every living space. A flashing red LED signal located on the body of the autonomous fire alarm indicates its serviceability and standby mode. Upon detection of smoke, the autonomous fire alarm emits an intermittent audible signal with a constant red LED illumination. To stop the audible signal of the alarm, the source of smoke must be eliminated and the room ventilated.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones! In case of an emergency, call "101" or "112".
