Observe fire safety rules when smoking!

One of the most common causes of fires is careless handling of fire. Smoking in bed, and most often smoking while intoxicated, occupies a special place among all violations in handling fire. People in this state do not control their actions and do not think about their consequences. Almost daily, such incidents appear in the reports of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Events always unfold according to one scenario: a person falls asleep with a smoldering cigarette in their hand, the cigarette falls on bedding, causing ignition, and neighbors who discover the fire call rescuers. However, such fires often lead to tragic consequences for the sleeping smoker and take away the most valuable thing – their life. Therefore, it is necessary to observe the simplest safety rules when smoking, to be attentive and vigilant.

Rules for smokers:

- do not throw cigarettes on the floor and do not smoke in bed;

- put out cigarette butts in an ashtray or a tin can filled with water. When the ashtray is full, clean it promptly;

- do not throw even extinguished cigarettes into trash cans;

- make sure that ash does not get on combustible items or the floor;

- install a smoke detector, which will help notify you of a fire in time.

In addition, it should be remembered that cigarette butts thrown from balconies or windows can also provoke a fire by falling onto the balconies of lower floors. A cigarette butt can get into an apartment through an open transom, where the conditions for combustion can be the most favorable.
