Fire prevention work in housing

With the aim of preventing fires in residential buildings and loss of life, preventive measures are being carried out in the Miory district. These measures are aimed at additional training, explaining fire safety rules, and drawing the public's attention to the problem of fire-related fatalities.

Rescuers from the Miory District Department for Emergency Situations conducted raid activities on residential properties in the town of Miory. The presence of autonomous fire alarms, the serviceability of heating appliances, knowledge of emergency service numbers, and the ability to respond correctly to emergency situations – all this and more interested the rescuers during their home visits to citizens.

– We have to explain to many citizens why it is necessary to install autonomous fire alarms in every living room, – says Vladimir Pavlovich, Head of the Miory District Department for Emergency Situations. – Even if a person lives alone, it is necessary to equip every living room with alarms, as the possibility of electrical wiring or electrical appliances catching fire cannot be ruled out. In such a case, a fire alarm will help detect a fire at an early stage and prevent disaster.

The public was also informed about the importance of the correct operation of heating stoves.

– A stove is the heart of the home, and its condition reflects the attitude of the household members towards their own well-being, – says Gennady Borisevich, Inspector of the Supervision and Prevention Sector. – An installed hearth mat, the absence of cracks in the masonry, a plastered and whitewashed stove chimney – these are not just words, but rules tested by time.

Based on the results of the conducted inspections of citizens' households, a series of information materials have been prepared for prevention entities, as well as letters to the able-bodied relatives of elderly citizens.
