On September 25, a Unified Safety Day will be held in the Miory district!

For the purpose of educating the public on actions during fires, emergencies, and first aid for victims, a Unified Safety Day will be held in the region on 25.09.2025.

The Miory district will not be an exception. On this day, a large-scale event involving interested services and organizations of the district will take place on Lenin Square in the town of Miory at 11:00 AM. You can expect contests and quizzes on life safety fundamentals, interactive platforms, photo zones, familiarization with special equipment, and much more.

We invite everyone who cares about their own safety to participate in the event!

Also, as part of the Unified Safety Day, rescuers of the region will assist in conducting practical evacuation drills at many public places – from educational institutions to large organizations and enterprises. This will help everyone recall what actions to take in case of an emergency.

Let's remember safety rules!

A person in a city can literally find themselves in a zone of potential danger every day. A market, a shopping mall, a restaurant, a hotel, a nightclub – these are enclosed spaces, places where people gather. What should be done and how to escape?

The fire at the nightclub "Khromaya Loshad" (Lame Horse) in the city of Perm (Russia) in December 2009 is remembered with a shudder. The source of the fire was a fireworks display set off directly in the club hall. The pyrotechnics ignited plastic and foam decorative elements, filling the windowless room with toxic smoke. Suffocation from this smoke caused most of the deaths of the establishment's visitors. The fire claimed the lives of 156 people.

Today, shopping malls are probably the most visited places in any large city. Looking for a new outfit, taking a child to a playroom or a cinema, having a meal in a cafe – these are places where one can spend their free time well and productively. Visitors do not even think about the possibility of a fire or other emergency situation occurring here.

The events that occurred in 2018 at the "Zimnyaya Vishnya" (Winter Cherry) shopping and entertainment center in Kemerovo shocked everyone. It was impossible to listen to or read the news without tears. Details, figures, eyewitness accounts, the aching pain from the tragedy. And everyone had one single question – why did the tragedy happen? But whatever the reasons, the fact remains – people died, and most tragically, children… The rapid development of the fire, panic, and incorrect actions also played their part.

He who is warned is forearmed, as the well-known proverb says. Any visitor to a shopping center, cinema, sports complex, or similar establishment should know and understand how to quickly and correctly leave the premises where a dangerous situation has arisen, especially if children are with you.

What should you do when entering a shopping center?

When entering any premises with a large concentration of people, always remember your route in case you suddenly need to leave the building quickly. Don't be lazy and study the evacuation plan; it will only take a few minutes, and in case of a fire, there simply won't be time for it. Any landmarks – bright signs, advertising banners, shops – will help you quickly determine your current location and proceed to the exit. You should also pay attention to the location of the main and emergency exits (they are marked with special "exit" signs).

Signals to act

The smell of smoke or the activation of the fire alarm system is primarily a signal on how to act. Do not wait for events to unfold, do not try to verify; leave the building immediately! But do so without panic or fuss, as this always leads to rash actions and exacerbates the situation.

To extinguish or not to extinguish?

If the fire source is small and there are chances to extinguish it yourself, without the help of rescuers, you can provide feasible assistance to the shopping center staff in extinguishing the fire, but it is important not to hinder them, and in such situations, you should always call 101 or 112. After all, lost time often leads to an increase in the fire source and the spread of flames.

What not to do in case of fire?

Under no circumstances should you go to the upper floors or use the elevator. Power outages can occur at any moment, and you could find yourself trapped in a situation that would be very difficult to escape. Move towards the exit quickly but without panic, otherwise a stampede may begin. Follow the flashing signs – they will indicate the evacuation route. In conditions of poor visibility, keep hold of walls or handrails. It is very important to protect your respiratory organs during a fire, as toxic combustion products and carbon dioxide often pose a greater danger than the fire itself. Cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve or any damp cloth (you can wet a scarf or handkerchief with water), crouch down, as the concentration of smoke is lower near the floor. Under no circumstances should you try to retrieve belongings left in storage lockers; in such situations, you will lose time, and this could cost you your life.

How to behave when caught in a crowd?

If you find yourself in a crowd, do not push. Bend your arms at the elbows and press them to your sides, clench your fists; this will help prevent your chest from being compressed. Try not to stumble and fall to the floor, as it will be very difficult to get back on your feet in such a situation.

Drawing conclusions

If you hear a fire alarm in a shopping center or other establishment:

- do not panic;

- leave the premises following the evacuation signs;

- call 112;

- move away from the smoke, staying low to the floor and covering your respiratory organs.

If a fire starts at your workplace:

- do not panic, call 112;

- turn off electrical appliances;

- notify colleagues about the fire;

- use a fire extinguisher if possible;

- leave the premises.
