Water safety: preventive raids by rescuers with a GIMS employee

In order to prevent tragic incidents on the water, rescuers from Miory district, together with a representative of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS), are conducting preventive raids on the district's water bodies.

On Lakes Obsterno and Vazha, during the raid, the GIMS inspector checked boaters for the completeness of their watercraft with the necessary equipment for going out on the water, as well as the availability of relevant documents for the right to operate small vessels.

In parallel with the vessel checks, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations actively interacted with local residents vacationing on the reservoirs. During conversations, rescuers reminded them of the key rules of water safety.

– The main cause of death on the water is the violation of behavioral rules. Being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, swimming in prohibited areas, inability to swim, as well as insufficient adult supervision of children – these are the factors that, unfortunately, lead to tragic consequences, – commented an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Rescuers reminded both the fishermen they met and the vacationers that swimming is only allowed in designated areas, that consuming alcohol is unacceptable and dangerous, and that children should never be left unattended near water.
