Firefighting – through joint efforts

Every spring, the population actively tidies up their personal plots, roadsides, and the burial sites of their loved ones. A good and useful activity. But only until someone gets the idea to burn dry grass.

To prevent fires caused by burning dry vegetation, and also to identify overgrown areas, Miory rescuers are conducting raids in rural areas. Thus, this week they visited a number of rural councils, where they conducted educational work with the population.

The first person the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees approached was a man. He did not burn grass. But he made a fire. Having collected branches that had fallen from trees, he decided to burn them. There were no claims against the man, except that he was asked to place primary fire extinguishing means next to the bonfire.

A middle-aged woman, who was also approached by rescuers, assured them that she had never burned grass. However, in her life, she had encountered people who did not listen to the advice of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and ended up without a roof over their heads.

During the raids, several overgrown areas were also identified. Information about such areas will be transferred to local authorities for decision-making. After all, each such overgrown area is a potential source of ignition. And fire must be fought with joint efforts.
