Forest fire

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds the public that if you witness a forest fire, take the following actions:

- Call 101 or 112;

- If the fire is small, try to extinguish it with branches or cover it with soil;

- Leave the fire site, remembering to walk against the wind, if possible perpendicular to the direction of the fire;

- Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth, preferably damp;

- Try to get to a road, clearing, meadow, riverbank, or field.

To prevent forest fires, follow these simple and important rules:

- Do not throw burning matches, cigarette butts, or smoldering rags;

- Do not start fires in dense thickets, young coniferous forests, or under tree canopies;

- Do not start fires in windy weather and do not leave them unattended;

- Do not leave self-igniting materials in the forest: rags soaked in oil or gasoline, glass;

- Do not burn dry grass in forest clearings or near forest areas.
