Firefighting – through joint efforts

Every spring, people actively tidy up their household plots, roadsides, and the burial sites of their loved ones. A good and useful activity. But only until someone gets the idea to burn dry grass.

To prevent fires caused by burning dry vegetation, and also to identify overgrown areas, Miory rescuers are conducting raids in rural areas. Thus, this week they visited a number of rural councils, where they conducted educational work with the population.

The first person the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees approached was a man. He was not burning grass. But he had a fire going. Having collected branches that had fallen from trees, he decided to burn them. There were no claims against the man, except that he was asked to place primary fire extinguishing means near the fire.

A middle-aged woman, who was also approached by rescuers, assured them that she had never burned grass. However, in her life, she had encountered people who did not listen to the advice of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and ended up homeless.

During the raids, several overgrown areas were also identified. Information about such areas will be transferred to local authorities for decision-making. After all, each such overgrown area is a potential source of ignition. And we must fight fire with joint efforts.
