How to prevent childhood injuries?
Cases of child deaths and injuries are recorded annually in our country. Often, the decisive factor in the occurrence of such incidents is the lack of adult supervision. Sometimes, appeals do not yield the desired results, remain unheard, and parents pay almost no attention to teaching children basic safety rules. But worse still, they sometimes set an example of unsafe behavior themselves. To once again draw parents' attention to the existing social problem, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has launched the information campaign "Nature Has No Heart!".
Despite the wide variety of injuries in children, the causes that lead to them are typical. First of all, this is adult negligence, careless, improper behavior of a child at home, on the street, during games, and sports.
To avoid injuries at home:
– exclude contact of the child with household appliances;
– do not leave a child unattended with operating household appliances or electrical devices;
– make it a rule to constantly be near the child, do not leave them unattended;
– if the child is playing in the next room, check what might pose a danger to them and remove these items;
– exclude the presence of a child unattended in the kitchen and bathroom.
When it comes to playgrounds, it is believed that a playground is a kind of safety island. Dog walking, car parking, alcohol consumption, and smoking are prohibited here. But, nevertheless, children are exposed to other dangers on it – there is a high risk of injury from falling, hitting something, and if some parts of the structures are faulty, then trouble is not far off. Parents need to remember that the responsibility for their children's health lies entirely with them, and no matter how well-maintained and safe the playground may seem, one must not lose sight of their child and must certainly support them when conquering "sports equipment".
Parents, do not leave children alone and teach them the basic safety rules and the Ministry of Emergency Situations phone numbers – 101 and 112.
