Observe fire safety rules when smoking!
One of the most common causes of fires is careless handling of fire. Smoking in bed holds a special place among all violations of fire safety rules, and most often it is smoking while intoxicated. People in this state do not control their actions and do not think about the consequences. Such incidents appear in the MES reports almost daily.
Events always unfold according to one scenario: a person falls asleep with a smoldering cigarette in their hand, the cigarette falls onto bedding, causing ignition, and neighbors who discover the fire call rescuers. However, such fires often lead to tragic consequences for the sleeping smoker and take away the most valuable thing – their life. Therefore, it is necessary to observe the simplest safety rules when smoking, to be attentive and vigilant.
Rules for smokers:
- do not throw cigarettes on the floor and do not smoke in bed;
- put cigarette butts in an ashtray or a tin can filled with water. When the ashtray is full, clean it promptly;
- do not throw even extinguished cigarettes into trash cans;
- make sure that ash does not get on combustible items or the floor;
- install a smoke detector, which will help to notify you of a fire in a timely manner.
In addition, it should be remembered that cigarette butts thrown from balconies or windows can also provoke a fire by falling onto the balconies of lower floors. A cigarette butt can enter an apartment through an open transom window, where conditions for combustion development may be the most favorable.
Observe safety rules! Cherish life!
