Important to know: safe campfire

With the onset of warm weather, many people plan to go out of town for nature. What could be more pleasant than relaxing in the fresh air, in good company. However, it is important to remember that safety must be observed even while relaxing.

An unextinguished campfire can cause a forest or peat fire. It can also lead to a fire in a house or other structures. To prevent this, remember that a safe campfire:

1. can only be made in calm weather;

2. must be at least 8 meters away from combustible structures;

3. you must have a sufficient supply of fire extinguishing agents at hand (a bucket or barrel of water, sand with a shovel, etc.);

4. the campfire must not be left unattended for a moment.

If you are making a campfire in the forest, remember:

1. mineral soil should be chosen for the campfire pit: sand or clay;

2. combustible litter within a radius of 0.5 meters must be raked away or dug around;

3. it is best to line the campfire pit with stones or turf;

4. when leaving, do not forget to extinguish the campfire.

And, of course, it should be remembered that for lighting fires in prohibited places, as well as for violating fire safety requirements in forests and peatlands, administrative liability is provided, and for the destruction or damage of forests and peatlands – up to criminal liability.
