Under control - citizen safety

As part of a preventive campaign held from February 26 to March 1, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Miory region, both individually and in cooperation with prevention entities, inspected the households of categorized citizens. The focus was on the safety of households and the citizens residing in them. Among the categories of citizens covered by preventive work were people with disabilities, the elderly, and single individuals living alone.

It is no secret that stoves are one of the main sources of fires in winter. This is, of course, due to the fact that it is during the winter period that people intensively use heating devices to maintain a comfortable temperature inside their homes. And often, the devices used by our citizens, to put it mildly, do not meet the required safety standards. In this regard, attention is focused on the safe operation of stove heating in houses, bathhouses, and outbuildings: the condition of chimneys, including in hard-to-reach places (attics, mansard floors), the presence of essential stove components, compliance with safety requirements during firing, and so on. All visited citizens were instructed on observing safety rules during stove operation.

An autonomous fire alarm will save lives in case of smoke in the premises. The main conditions for this are the presence of alarms in living rooms and their proper functioning. Rescuers also paid attention to these issues and conducted briefings with residents.

The campaign concluded with a large-scale event on the city square, involving fire fighting equipment. Those who wished had the opportunity to briefly become firefighters, participate in contests, and win useful gifts for themselves and their loved ones. But the most important gift was the knowledge about safety, which, if strictly observed, will help preserve the most precious thing a person has – their life.
