Under control – citizens' safety
With the start of the new year, the Ministry of Emergency Situations workers of Miory region have intensified their preventive measures and, as part of inspection commissions, are actively examining the households of categorized citizens. The focus is on the safety of households and the citizens residing in them. Among the categories of citizens covered by preventive work are single elderly citizens and families raising young children.
It is no secret that stoves are one of the main sources of fires in winter. This is, of course, due to the fact that it is in the winter period that people intensively use heating appliances to maintain a safe temperature inside their homes. And often, the appliances used by our citizens, to put it mildly, do not meet the required safety standards. In this regard, attention is focused on the safe operation of stove heating inside houses, in bathhouses, and outbuildings: the condition of chimneys, including in hard-to-reach places (attics, mansard floors), the presence of the main stove elements, compliance with safety requirements during heating, and so on. All visited citizens have been instructed on observing safety rules during stove operation.
No less serious a problem is the operation of household electrical appliances and wiring with malfunctions. Not only does this pose a risk of electric shock, but it is also another cause of fires. During preventive work, citizens' attention was also focused on this.
In families with children, parents were reminded that leaving young children unattended is strictly forbidden under any circumstances. This can be dangerous, first and foremost, for the child themselves. Adults were also urged to teach children rules of safe behavior from the earliest childhood.
