Prevention in housing

The employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Miory region, both individually and as part of inspection commissions, carried out large-scale preventive work on weekends to inspect the households of categorized citizens. The focus was on the safety of housing and the citizens living in it. Among the categories of citizens covered by preventive work, special attention was paid to large families, families raising young children, as well as families in a socially dangerous situation.

It is no secret that stoves are one of the main sources of fires in winter. This is due to the fact that it is precisely in the winter period that people intensively use heating devices to maintain a safe temperature inside the premises. And often the devices used by our citizens do not meet the required safety standards. In this regard, attention is focused on the safe operation of stove heating inside houses, in bathhouses and outbuildings: the condition of chimneys, including in hard-to-reach places (attics, mansard floors), the presence of basic stove elements, compliance with safety requirements during firing, and so on. All visited citizens were instructed on observing safety rules during the operation of stoves.

No less serious problem is the operation of household electrical appliances and faulty wiring. Not only does this pose a risk of electric shock, but it is also another cause of fires. During preventive work, citizens' attention was also focused on this.

In families with children, parents were reminded that children should never be left unattended. This can be dangerous, first and foremost, for the child themselves. Adults were also urged to teach children safety rules from early childhood.
