Let's imagine life without the things we've grown so accustomed to. Life without a TV playing in the background in the evenings. No microwave that allows you to heat food with the press of a button. You can also forget about a washing machine that saves precious time and the rest of your energy after a work week. A refrigerator, a mobile phone, and a computer? Most people probably wouldn't even want to imagine such a tragic situation or would fall into hysterics.

Convenient and practical electrical appliances make our lives much easier and more comfortable in modern life. But another question arises – the safe use of these devices. They can not only help us but also, if handled improperly, ruin our lives.

"A fire will happen anywhere but not at my place." Some people are willing to save on their health, on quality electrical appliances. They are ready to live in houses where the electrical wiring has long since endured a brutal test of time. They do not know or do not want to know the basic safety rules when using electrical equipment. The result is one – due to "just in case," they spend their accumulated money not on a summer vacation, but on repairing their apartment or house. And they will be very lucky if the tragedy brings only housing troubles.

On October 1st at 19:32, rescuers received a report of a house fire in the village of Zavlichye-Novoye, Postavy district.

Upon arrival at the scene, the emergency services observed heavy smoke in the house. The owner, born in 1971, was inside the dwelling at the time. The man was found by emergency workers in a non-burning room, on the floor, and carried out into the fresh air. After examination by an ambulance crew, the man's death was confirmed.

As a result of the fire, the roof and ceiling were damaged, and property was damaged.

A check is being conducted regarding the fire, and the cause is being established. The version being considered is a violation of the rules for operating electrical networks and electrical equipment, a short circuit in an electric kettle.

Get into the habit of unplugging electrical appliances

It's so convenient to come home, grab the remote, and turn on the TV with a single click, and at the same time, place your phone on the charger with a simple hand movement. This situation can go on constantly: for days and even years. In non-working but plugged-in electrical appliances, many components are under voltage, and due to overheating or short circuits, they can catch fire at any moment.

Appliances Don't Last Forever

A common "life hack": we send old appliances to the dacha. Surely many don't even realize it, but they have a service life. How long your device is durable can be found in the manual, which you'll likely have to search for among other dusty items in the balcony. It's better not to open Pandora's box: sometimes old things are ready for retirement.

Overloading the Electrical Grid is Not the Best Solution

Excessive load on the electrical grid can lead to malfunctions in appliances, or a very unpleasant situation can occur – a fire in the room. Remember: the fewer electrical appliances operating simultaneously, the safer it is.

To protect yourself and your family from a fire in your house or apartment, remember and follow fire safety rules when operating electrical household appliances:

- before using an electrical appliance, carefully study its operating instructions;

- repair electrical appliances in a timely manner (entrust repairs only to professionals);

- to prevent electrical appliances from igniting due to voltage surges and fluctuations in the network, use surge protectors;

- place electric heating appliances, including irons, electric stoves, and electric kettles, on a non-combustible surface. If the cord or plug of the appliance heats up during operation, turn it off immediately and disconnect it from the power supply;

- regularly remove dust from the back panel of the refrigerator;

- do not cover the ventilation openings in the TV casing and do not place the TV near heating appliances, curtains, or drapes that can easily catch fire;

- Do not leave the TV on unattended and when leaving home, disconnect the TV from the mains, as even in "standby" mode, its main components are under voltage.

When leaving home, do not forget to completely turn off electrical appliances, including the TV, computer, and mobile phone chargers.

We remind you that the service life and maintenance of an electrical appliance, including a refrigerator, are indicated by the manufacturer in the accompanying operating instructions. Operating electrical appliances beyond their service life increases the probability of a fire in a residential building and apartment.
