Autonomous fire alarm - effective and reliable protection for your home!

An autonomous fire detector (AFD) is designed to automatically detect a fire (smoke) and alert about it. The device can alert about a fire independently or as part of an autonomous fire alarm system. The AFD is called autonomous because its design is such that it does not require connection to an electrical circuit or a control panel to operate. Inside the plastic casing, there is a power source – a "Krona" type battery – and components necessary for fire detection and direct notification. AFDs should be installed in all living rooms (except the kitchen) of a dwelling.

It is very important to choose the installation location of the detector correctly. It is recommended to install the AFD in the central part of the ceiling with a slight offset towards a window or door – where constant air exchange is ensured.

The flashing red LED signal located on the AFD casing indicates its proper functioning and standby mode. Upon detecting smoke, the AFD emits an intermittent audible signal with a constant red LED illumination. To stop the detector's audible alarm, eliminate the source of smoke and ventilate the room.

During the operation of the AFD, it is necessary to carry out its maintenance, which consists of cleaning the detector's optical system using a hairdryer on a cold setting at maximum power. Without disassembling the detector, direct the air stream onto the protective mesh of the optical element. Cleaning should be performed at least once a year and after each false alarm. It is also necessary to regularly replace the power source. The detector will signal that it is time to do this by continuously emitting a short audible signal.

A man was woken by a working autonomous fire alarm during a fire in the Miory district.

On April 9, rescuers received a report of a residential building fire in the village of Dedino, Miory district.

Upon arrival at the scene, the fire department observed open burning of the house. At the time of the fire, the owner of the dwelling, born in 1962, was in the house – asleep. The man was woken by the sound of a working autonomous fire alarm and was able to leave the dwelling on his own, unharmed. The man installed the alarm at his own expense in 2017.

As a result of the fire, the roof and ceiling of the house were destroyed, and the walls and property were damaged.

A check is being carried out regarding this fact, the cause of the fire is being established. The version being considered is careless handling of fire while smoking by the owner.
