Playing with fireworks can be costly
The most magical holiday – New Year – is just around the corner. All children, and adults too, look forward to it with impatience, as it is usually associated with gifts and fun. But every year, rescuers' reports include people who are not averse to "messing around" with pyrotechnics to make this holiday noisy. It should be remembered that its use is associated with the danger of injury, so it will not be superfluous to remind you of the basic rules for using pyrotechnics.
In order for your holidays to be not only fun but also safe, you need to know and follow these rules:
1) before using pyrotechnics, you must carefully study the instructions and strictly follow them;
2) the manufacturer's operating instructions must contain:
- restrictions on the conditions of use of the product;
- methods of safe launch;
- dimensions of the danger zone;
- storage conditions, shelf life, and disposal methods.
3) do not use products with expired shelf life, signs of damage, without operating instructions and a certificate of conformity;
4) it is forbidden to use pyrotechnic products:
- indoors, in buildings, structures, as well as on roofs, balconies, and loggias;
- in explosive and fire-hazardous areas, near power lines;
- on stage platforms during concerts and festive events;
- in areas of cultural heritage sites, nature reserves, sanctuaries, and national parks.
As for the actual launch of firecrackers and fireworks:
1) Before lighting the fuse, you must know exactly where the top of the product is and where the burning elements will fly out. You should not aim fireworks at spectators, even as a joke.
2) The launch site must be level, with no trees, power lines, or other obstacles above it. In addition, it must be located at a distance of at least 50 meters from residential buildings. Rockets often fly into balconies or, by breaking window panes, into apartments, causing fires. In addition, fireworks can hit people.
3) Do not throw burning firecrackers at people and animals!
4) Children are forbidden to launch firecrackers!
5) Do not hold a burning firecracker in your hands!
6) Do not place a firecracker in a confined space: a jar, a bucket, a bottle!
7) Use firecrackers only in the open air!
8) Do not approach a burning firecracker closer than 5-10 m!
9) Firecrackers should be stored and transported only in their packaging! Do not carry firecrackers in pockets or bags!
10) It is forbidden to disassemble firecrackers!
11) It is strictly forbidden to burn fireworks in bonfires.
12) Never lean over pyrotechnics.
13) If a firecracker did not work, do not try to check or light the fuse again.
14) Do not launch rockets in well-yards, in apartments, near houses and in small enclosed areas. Remember that the launch sites for each specific product must be indicated in the instructions.
15) Do not hold the product in your hands after ignition. Throw it 5-6 meters away from you or, after the fuse has been ignited, place it on the ground and quickly move away to a distance of 5-6 meters from the product!
16) Fireworks are destroyed by placing them in water for up to two days. After that, they can be disposed of with household waste.
