What to do if there is a FIRE IN THE HOUSE:
This can be prevented if:
- handle open flames with care: thoroughly extinguish matches, cigarettes, candles;
- use only serviceable electrical appliances and gas equipment;
- when leaving home, turn off all electrical appliances except the refrigerator.
What to do if it happens
- call rescuers by phone 101 or 112
- protect your mouth and nose with a wet bandage, move on all fours in case of smoke;
- take children, elderly people, animals outside;
- if you have time, turn off electricity, gas appliances, take documents and money, close windows, doors and leave;
- if the fire is outside and you cannot leave, stuff the gaps around all ventilation openings and the entrance door with a wet cloth, go out onto the balcony and call for help.
DO NOT
- fight the flames on your own without calling rescuers;
- open windows and doors unless absolutely necessary;
- descend using tied sheets, curtains, ropes if you are on the third floor or higher;
- use the elevator;
- risk your life saving property.
