Fishing is a wonderful type of recreation
Not everyone thinks about the fact that various dangers await a person with a fishing rod while fishing, but in the meantime, any body of water, even a long-familiar one, is a place of certain risk:
An accident occurred on July 27, 2022 in the Gomel region. During the day, five meters from the shore in Lake Uzkoe, near the horticultural partnership "Motor", the body of a 58-year-old fisherman was discovered. A spinning rod remained on the shore. The man went into the water to free his snagged tackle, but could not get back to the shore.
In Baranovichi, Brest region, an elderly man drowned in a body of water. The accident occurred on August 24, 2022. A 70-year-old man went fishing on the floodplains by bicycle around five in the morning. When he did not return home by the appointed time, his worried wife called the police. The body of the missing pensioner was spotted three meters from the shore by another fisherman who was passing by in a boat. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations recovered the body of the deceased from the water.
The incident occurred on the evening of August 28, 2022. Two men were fishing in a body of water near Ozernaya Street in the village of Vishnevo, Smorgon district, Grodno region. One of the friends periodically swam, the second persuaded him to get out of the water. When the 38-year-old man began to drown, his 40-year-old comrade rushed to his aid, but he himself disappeared under the water. The bodies of the men were recovered from the water by employees of the OSVOD. According to witnesses, the men had been fishing on the lake for the second day, and had been drinking alcohol the entire time.
A resident of the village of Ryasna, Kamenets district, Brest region, drowned in an artificial reservoir while fishing. In the evening of September 25, 2022, a 69-year-old villager went fishing in a local dug pond. The man did not return home, and his relatives began searching for him. The next morning, the pensioner's grandson found his grandfather's body at the bottom of the reservoir.
Rules for safe fishing:
- before going fishing, be sure to inform your relatives and friends about the fishing location, and also specify the return time;
- do not consume alcohol, as it slows down reaction time, relaxes attention, and dulls the sense of real danger;
- take a first-aid kit, flashlight, local map, and means to signal your location;
- before starting fishing, inspect the fishing spot; - be especially careful on steep and eroded riverbanks;
- to avoid accidents, it is better to fish without going far from the shore;
- when fishing from a boat, anglers should not forget to have rescue and signaling equipment on board.
