What agricultural workers need to know to prevent a fire

Fires at agricultural facilities are not uncommon. An abundance of combustible materials, equipment, and human carelessness often lead to fires at agro-industrial complex facilities. The Miory district is no exception in this regard.

To prevent fires, the head and officials of the farm must remember, know, and comply with safety requirements. We will remind you of the main ones.

- all facilities must have functioning and serviceable fire protection and fire extinguishing equipment, fire water supply, communication, static electricity protection, external fire escapes, building roof railings, as well as constant readiness for the use of this equipment;

- fire safety instructions must be developed in accordance with the requirements of guiding documents;

- farm employees must undergo training according to fire-technical minimum programs and fire safety briefings, as well as training employees in fire safety measures;

- technological processes must be carried out in accordance with operational and technological documentation;

- agricultural organization facilities must inform employees about the fire safety status of the business entity;

- buildings must have fire safety information stands, and timely updating of current information must be organized;

- the territory must be cleared of dry vegetation and combustible waste.

Each employee of the business entity is obliged to:

- know fire safety requirements, comply with the fire safety regulations of the business entity;

- not take actions that could lead to a fire;

- be able to use primary fire extinguishing equipment and self-rescue devices;

- immediately begin evacuation upon activation of fire alarm and evacuation control systems or upon receiving other information about a fire;

- upon detecting a fire:

a) immediately report the address and location of the fire by calling 101 or 112, or directly to the fire and rescue unit;

b) take all possible measures to notify people and evacuate them, as well as to extinguish the fire using available primary fire extinguishing means.

Smoking on the premises is permitted only in specially designated areas, determined by fire safety instructions, equipped in the prescribed manner and marked with "Smoking Area" signs.

Special attention should be paid to carrying out hot work. Hot work at temporary locations is permitted only with a duly issued work permit, issued by the head of the organization or a person authorized to issue work permits. This work must be performed by a person who has undergone training according to the fire and technical minimum programs and has a certificate of completion. The hot work area must be equipped with primary fire extinguishing means.
