Miory. A Victory Story That Must Be Remembered

May 9 is a memorable date for all residents of our country. A day that returned to our people the right to life and peaceful existence. Those who still remember the terrible times of the war, and on the eve of the 78th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, namely the prisoners of fascist concentration camps, were congratulated by employees of the Miory District Department for Emergency Situations together with young rescuers, wishing them strength and good health.

Even after so many decades, having become elderly people, former child prisoners experience the horrors of the fascist torture chamber as if it were very recent. They are the last witnesses and eyewitnesses of the cruel truth about the atrocities that the invaders conceived and implemented. Therefore, more than anyone else, they understand the pricelessness of human life, the peaceful sky overhead, and fresh bread on the table. But, unfortunately, every year there are fewer and fewer of them, and therefore it is so important for them to pass on the torch of memory to the next generations.

The Great Patriotic War did not bypass a single family. Tragic stories of separation and tales of salvation are passed down from generation to generation in every Belarusian family. And so our heroes, having lived such a difficult life, thank the heroes who died in battles for the peaceful sky overhead and the independence in which we live.
