Saving fish from winter trouble!
An important environmental campaign took place on the reservoirs of the Miory district. The Miory District Inspectorate of Natural Resources, together with employees of the Department of Emergency Situations, OSVOD (Belarusian Voluntary Society for the Rescue of People on Water), and the "Yelnya" State Nature Reserve, went out on the ice to drill holes.
Frosty weather and a thick snow cover are a beautiful, but dangerous phenomenon for aquatic inhabitants.
Snow blocks access to light and oxygen, and fish begin to suffocate.
"Let's make holes – let's save fish from suffocation."
Each drilled hole is a chance for dozens of fish to survive the winter.
