Birch sap harvesting

The Miory District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection reminds about the need to comply with the requirements for the harvesting and collection of sap, established by law.

In accordance with the Forest Code, the harvesting of tree sap is carried out on forest fund plots designated for these purposes by legal entities engaged in forestry, and their structural divisions.

When harvesting birch sap, individuals must have a Forest Ticket issued by a legal entity engaged in forestry.

In accordance with parts 1 and 2 of Article 16.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, violation of the rules for sap harvesting and its collection without permits entails a fine for a citizen up to 20 base units, for an individual entrepreneur up to 100 base units, for a legal entity up to 500 base units.

In addition, sap harvesting in specially protected natural areas, where the regime of protection and use prohibits sap harvesting (Article 16.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), entails a fine of up to 35 base units, for an individual entrepreneur up to 100 base units, for a legal entity up to 500 base units.

Also, for illegal harvesting of tree sap, civil liability in the form of compensation for damages is provided.
