Let's save fish from winter trouble

An important environmental campaign "Let's make holes - save fish from suffocation" was held on the reservoirs of the Miory district.

The Miory District Inspectorate of Natural Resources, together with employees of the Department of Emergency Situations, the Belarusian Voluntary Society for the Rescue of Persons on Waters, and the State Nature Reserve "Yelnya", went out on the ice to drill holes.

Frosty weather and dense snow cover are a beautiful, but dangerous phenomenon for aquatic life. Snow blocks access to light and oxygen, and fish begin to suffocate.

Each drilled hole is a chance for dozens of fish to survive the winter.
