On the State Program "Ecology"
The Government has approved the State Program "Ecology" for 2026-2030.
The goals of the state program are to improve the quality of environmental protection and ensure rational nature management.
-The state program includes six subprograms aimed at implementing the following tasks and achieving target indicators:
"Hydrometeorology and Climate" - improving the quality of hydrometeorological observations, regulating climate impacts, improving water resource management
(target indicators by 2030 - increase in the accuracy of short-term weather forecasts by regions - 97.75%; reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (compared to 1990 levels) - 37%; change in the area of water-related ecosystems (compared to 2017 levels) - 30%)
- "Persistent Organic Pollutants" - fulfillment of obligations under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants
(target indicator - decommissioning of equipment containing polychlorinated biphenyls (by 2025) - 100%)
- "Biodiversity and Landscape Diversity"
(target indicator - increase in the share of specially protected natural areas in the total area of the country - 9.4%)
- "Environmental Protection" - ensuring sustainable nature management
(target indicators - increase in the proportion of periods with very good, good, and moderate air quality summed over the year - 93%, increase in the proportion of water bodies with good water quality - 80%)
- "Regional Ecology" - ensuring environmental safety
(target indicators - maintaining the index of discharge of insufficiently treated wastewater into water bodies (compared to 2015 levels) at 30%; maintaining surface water bodies in proper condition and their improvement; plugging of unused boreholes intended for groundwater extraction, as a percentage of the number of such boreholes as of January 1 of the corresponding year - 90%)
- "Goal 99" - maximum involvement of municipal waste in economic circulation
(target indicator - municipal solid waste utilization rate - 70%), reducing the negative impact of waste onenvironment.
