About greenhouse gases
The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus adopted Resolution No. 614 of November 6, 2025, establishing national greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for the period from 2026 to 2035.
According to the document, it is planned to reduce emissions by 42% by 2035 compared to the 1990 level.
"The previously planned emission reduction of 35% by 2030 has already been achieved in 2025," the government's press service reported.
Government bodies subordinate to the government and local authorities must take these targets into account when developing and implementing socio-economic development programs, as well as legal acts on greenhouse gas emission reduction for the specified period.
This document is aimed at fulfilling the obligations under the Paris Agreement of December 12, 2015.
The resolution comes into force on January 1, 2026.
Resolution No. 553 of September 29, 2021, establishing targets for the period up to 2030, has been repealed.
