About River Basin Councils

In order to develop recommendations for the protection and rational (sustainable) use of water resources for the basins of the Western Dvina, Neman, Western Bug, Pripyat, and Dnieper rivers, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection established relevant basin councils in 2025.

By Order of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated October 20, 2025, No. 384-OD "On Basin Councils," the Western Dvina and Neman basin councils were established for a term of 5 years.

By Order of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated October 31, 2025, No. 411-OD "On Basin Councils," the Western Bug, Pripyat, and Dnieper basin councils were established for a term of 5 years, and also, taking into account personnel changes, a new composition of the basin councils was approved.

The composition of the basin councils includes representatives of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, regional and Minsk City Executive Committees, water users, as well as public associations and scientific organizations engaged in environmental protection activities.
