About watering
Due to the established hot weather, the green spaces planted in settlements in the spring of this year, as well as in previous years, are at risk of drying out. Without human assistance, most young trees and shrubs are doomed to a swift death.
In this regard, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection announces an emergency campaign "Water a Tree – Save Its Life!". The event will take place in all settlements of Belarus. Every resident of the republic can contribute to the preservation of young green spaces.
It is advisable to take water for irrigation from open sources so that its temperature is close to the soil temperature. Usually, watering is done in the morning or evening to reduce water evaporation. Watering of trees is carried out at a rate of 30–50 liters per 1 m2 of trunk area, shrubs – 20 liters per 1 m2, but in dry weather, water will be beneficial for trees in any quantity. First, it is necessary to water the topsoil to moisten it, and then water more intensively.
In dry and hot weather, trees are recommended to be watered every week; if the trees have been planted recently, they require more frequent watering.
We remind you of Article 55 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, according to which the protection of the natural environment and the careful attitude towards natural resources are the duty of everyone. Do not remain indifferent, water the trees, flowers, shrubs near your home, work, educational institution, in parks, alleys, and public gardens!
