Unified Greening Day

This Saturday, October 28, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection will hold a unified greening day in Belarus – tree and shrub planting events will take place in all regions of the country.

Traditionally, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection initiates campaigns in spring and autumn to tidy up the land, improve and green populated areas. And this year is no exception: within the framework of the Year of Peace and Creation, the department has announced an environmental campaign "Peaceful Creative Labor for the Benefit of a Clean and Green Country!".

During the unified greening day, it is planned to plant more than 60 thousand tree and shrub seedlings: linden, maple, oak, rowan, hornbeam, pine, willow, walnut, chestnut, ash, lilac, spirea, thuja, forsythia, and others. Together with employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection system, about 5 thousand people will participate in the community work day – representatives of enterprises and organizations, educational institutions, and the public.

In the spring-summer period of the current year, more than 420 thousand trees and shrubs and almost 19 million flowers were planted in populated areas, as well as more than 8.5 thousand seedlings along roadsides.

Planting of trees and shrubs continues in autumn: taking into account the unfavorable weather conditions for greening in September, it was launched in early October. To date, more than 65 thousand trees and shrubs have been planted in populated areas of the republic.

Thanks to the active participation of citizens in cities and towns, agro-towns and villages of Belarus, the area of green spaces is steadily increasing. The required greening level of 40% has been achieved in 129 cities and district centers of the country (97.7% of their total number).

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection invites every resident and guest of Belarus to take an active part in the unified greening day events and thereby contribute to the common great cause – the preservation of the nature of their native land.
