During a visit to the Soligorsk poultry farm, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was briefed on plans to establish a selective-genetic center for quails, BELTA correspondent reports.
The head of state asked specialists when Belarus will have its own quail breed. The fact is that domestic poultry farming currently depends on imports of day-old chicks of grandparent and parent lines from abroad.
"We will have our own quails in three and a half years," said Inna Tolkacheva, director of the Soligorsk poultry farm.
Alexander Lukashenko also asked for the opinion of Vladimir Karanik, head of the National Academy of Sciences. "There is a good chance regarding quails," he replied.
