Lukashenko proposed persuading Tajikistan to join the EAEU
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko suggested persuading Tajikistan to join the Eurasian Economic Union. The head of state made this remark during a meeting with the heads of government of the CIS and EAEU countries, who had arrived in Minsk for international forums, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Following the address by Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda, the head of state stated: "As I understand it, Tajikistan is not yet ready to join the EAEU. Mikhail Vladimirovich (addressing the Prime Minister of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin. – BELTA note), we need to somehow persuade our colleague."
At present, the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union are Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Armenia.
