Inspections of agricultural organizations must be approached objectively, honestly, and fairly. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a video conference on the harvest campaign, while listening to a report by the Chairman of the State Control Committee, Vasily Gerasimov, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"Not every breakdown is the same (I have already provided an example). Perhaps a certain gear failed to arrive on schedule... Is the combine ready? It is not, but that is trivial. During assessment, the scope and scale of deficiencies must be taken into account," the President addressed the Chairman of the State Control Committee.

According to the head of state, inspections should be conducted with utmost care. Everything must be honest, objective, and fair. Alexander Lukashenko directed Vasily Gerasimov to instruct State Control Committee personnel to approach inspections strictly in accordance with these principles.
In his report, Vasily Gerasimov highlighted several problems and shortcomings within the agricultural sector. These included instances of machinery being unprepared, improper grain storage, difficulties with fodder harvesting, and a shortage of equipment operators in certain farms. Consequently, a lack of personnel ultimately results in grain combines remaining idle.
Another problem is the lack of unified approaches to organizing the work of mechanized units in a number of regions. Adequate measures are sometimes not taken to prevent grain losses in certain areas.
"These are excessive losses during combine operations, storage of uncovered grain in open yards, transportation of grain without tarpaulin covers, and other issues," Vasiliy Gerasimov explained.
The State Control Committee has also established facts regarding the unpreparedness of grain cleaning and drying complexes. In Vasiliy Gerasimov’s view, it is also necessary to consider the factors creating conditions for the theft of grain and seeds. "In a number of agricultural enterprises, grain harvested from the fields is weighed on uncalibrated scales, which does not ensure the reliability of accounting," the head of the control agency cited as one example.
There are also certain issues with fodder preparation. Mineral fertilizers have not been applied to grass crops in all agricultural enterprises. Instances of violations of technical regulations for fodder harvesting have been identified in some farms. There are also some concerns regarding the work plan for the 2025 harvest of cereals, legumes, and flax, which was approved by the Minister of Agriculture.
