President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif issued a joint statement. The signing ceremony of the document took place following negotiations in Islamabad, reports a BELTA correspondent.
The joint statement notes that the leaders of the two countries reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and confirmed their mutual commitment to deepening friendly ties between the two countries in the political, trade and economic, cultural, social, and other spheres.
"This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Belarus. Both sides recognized that their relations have evolved into a solid, large-scale, and comprehensive partnership of growing significance, the document states. During the meeting, the two leaders emphasized the importance of advancing political dialogue and strengthening interparliamentary relations."
Attention was also focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation, implementing a joint approach to regional economic integration and connectivity, as well as improving the legal framework to facilitate bilateral cooperation.
"Recognizing Belarus's advanced agricultural production capabilities and the needs of Pakistan's agriculture-based economy, both sides agreed to promote the establishment of joint ventures in the agricultural and industrial sectors, including for the production of high-tech and heavy-duty agricultural machinery," the statement notes.
The parties agreed to cooperate in the field of sales, production, and maintenance of automotive vehicles, including through partnerships between private and state organizations of the two countries. This initiative aims to leverage the strengths of both countries in automotive manufacturing and technology and to stimulate industrial growth.
Alexander Lukashenko and Shehbaz Sharif also discussed important regional and international issues. The Pakistani side informed the Belarusian side about the situation in the Jammu and Kashmir region. Both sides emphasized the need to settle all international disputes by peaceful means and in accordance with the UN Charter and resolutions of the UN Security Council.
After the ceremony, Alexander Lukashenko also presented Shehbaz Sharif with a certificate for two BELARUS-1025.3 tractors. They will be transferred free of charge to the Pakistani company Heavy Industries Taxila.-0-
