President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the agro-industrial complex "Yubileiny" in the Orsha district familiarized himself with the progress of the harvesting campaign, the results and prospects of the farm's work.

"Today we are harvesting wheat. Unfortunately, the weather is a bit tense," said the director of the agro-industrial complex Alexander Firsin, starting his report on this topic. "The weather is ideal," the head of state immediately objected.

"We are not complaining. We have harvested 55% (of the area. - Editorial note by BELTA). The average yield is 58.6 centners per hectare. Wheat yields 72-75 centners per hectare today. We harvested winter barley - it yielded 48 centners per hectare. Spring barley yields somewhere around 48-50 centners per hectare. Triticale - about 60. I think we will get about 38 thousand tons of grain this year," the director said. Alexander Lukashenko asked if this was enough for the livestock population. "I'm already thinking about how to sell it," Alexander Firsin replied.

They also discussed the issues of rapeseed processing - whether to do it in-house or outsource it. "Do you press it yourself or give it away?" the President asked. "I give it away," the director replied. "But is it profitable for you to sell it?" the head of state clarified. "It is profitable to sell and not engage in processing for now. We have already fulfilled the state order of 1 thousand tons. What's left is for our own feed," Alexander Firsin reported. He said that the farm has 5 thousand head of cattle, and milk yield is growing: "I think this year we will reach 10 thousand kg per cow. We will sell about 40 thousand tons of milk per year."
The feed situation in the farm is also developing excellently this year. "We could have started grain harvesting earlier. But we had to harvest sown grasses. They were just ready," the head of the farm said. They try to store all feed using technology, but sometimes excess is stored in mounds. "It's still better to build silos," Alexander Lukashenko advised. "Silos are being built. This year, honestly, I didn't expect such grasses. Alfalfa - this is the third cutting. I think there will be a fourth one too," Alexander Firsin explained.

Returning to the topic of animal husbandry, the development of modern dairy farms and herd reproduction was discussed – what to build premises from, how to solve certain technological and other issues. "Even if you build it out of gold," notes Alexander Lukashenko, emphasizing that the main thing is efficiency and the final financial result. "We will raise heifers for reproduction here. We assume there will be about 2300 heads. I think we can sell 600 heifers a year," the farm director shared specific plans. Alexander Lukashenko asked in general if "Yubileyny" is afraid of maintaining large complexes with a large number of heads. This primarily concerns sanitary conditions and the risk of disease spread, which can inevitably lead to livestock losses. But Alexander Firsin assured that everything is strict in this regard: "Everything is fenced off. A strict sanitary checkpoint. Today, our clothes are washed three times. We have our own laundry." That is, the secret, as the President says, lies in technology and discipline.
