President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demands that the performance indicators of the Atlant plant be brought to a decent level. The head of state set this task to the new head of the enterprise, a BELTA correspondent reports.

Deputy Minister of Industry Dmitry Kharitonchik was approved by the President for the position of General Director of Atlant.

"Things are not going well at Atlant, as I understand it?" Alexander Lukashenko asked him.

As Dmitry Kharitonchik noted, today, against the backdrop of a rise in 2021-2022, there is a certain decline, which is due to changes in market conditions.

"Tell me honestly, Dmitry, did you decide to go there yourself, or are they just pushing you into this position?" the President clarified.

"Not at all. I started at the factory (I worked at BELAZ for over 12 years at one time), so this is an absolutely conscious choice," said Dmitry Kharitonchik.

"I will only be glad, because when I come here and leave here, I look at Atlant, and I understand that there are problems there. And some people are unhappy. Therefore, we need to make this enterprise a real enterprise," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko. "After all, the refrigerators are not bad, the washing machines are not bad. We need to promote this so that our people sell and buy it."

According to Dmitry Kharitonchik, there are practically no complaints about Atlant's equipment. "Of course, we need to work seriously on reducing prices and costs. In a competitive environment, it is simply impossible without this," he added.

Dmitry Kharitonchik, after the personnel decisions made by the President, expressed his assessment of the situation at the enterprise in an interview with journalists: "As of today, the situation remains quite problematic, difficult in terms of sales. This is primarily due to the fact that after two years of growth in production and export volumes, last year we all noted a very aggressive entry (many new brands, as well as cheaper equipment) from Eastern countries into our common market with the Russian Federation. Of course, this could not but affect sales volumes."

According to the new General Director, the enterprise has taken certain measures in these conditions. This includes, for example, bringing in in-demand products to the market. First of all, these are refrigerators and freezers with the No Frost system. It is also necessary to seriously work on increasing the production volumes of washing machines, as this Atlant equipment is currently in demand.

"The most important thing in this situation is to continue serious work on reducing production costs. In a highly competitive environment, it is simply impossible without this. First of all, we need to look at improving the design and technological processes.

cesses. We need to offer a product that is truly needed by the buyer and that will be competitive," emphasized Dmitry Kharitonchik.
